“Watch out for Monkeys!” A tour through Zanzibars only official National Park is definitely a must-do when you come to the island.
After a 50 minutes’ drive we arrived in the Forest, already impressed by the large trees next to the road. A friendly local tour guide welcomed us in the forest and showed us first of all – of course – some monkeys. We were able to be face to face with the monkeys which gave us the chance to take amazing photos.
Then we were guided on a natural trail through the forest. Fascinated by the beauty of the nature the guide explained us a lot about the numerous benefits the different plants have on our health system.
We realized: Zanzibar is not just consisting of white sandy beaches – it is also home for a great diversity of plants and animals.
Walking further inside the forest we did not hear any more cars or other tourists. All we heard was the wind in the trees and the monkey climbing above our heads.
After visiting the forest we walked across the Pete-Jozani Mangrove Boardwalk to sum up this entertaining tour. The Mangroves and the creek provide a habitat for many different species such as lizards, snakes and birds.
All in all, we could not have spent the day better than this. The whole tour gave us another different impression of Zanzibar and we can just invite anybody to go on this adventure and “Watch out for Monkeys” as well!
