Be prepared for a little story about a lovely and generous hotel family, delicious meals and the best experience we could have in Zanzibar! “We”, that’s Julia and Anna, two young girls which didn’t really know what to expect when we decided to travel to Zanzibar. Both of us came as volunteers but soon got part of the Zan View family as Jakob – the hotel owner – and all the other staff really made us feel like at home! Making our way through dusty tracks we were amazed by the beauty of this game reserve. Birds tweeted,

A friendly local tour guide welcomed us in the forest and showed us first of all – of course – some monkeys. We were able to be face to face with the monkeys which gave us the chance to take amazing photos. Then we were guided on a natural trail through the forest. Fascinated by the beauty of the nature the guide explained us a lot about the

For one and a half hours we explored Stonetown and got an insight into a different lifestyle and culture. Walking through narrow alleys gave us the creeps. We were fascinated by the Indian and Arabic influences that we were

On sunday we celebrated Jakobs 39th birthday as well as his son Ismael on his sixth birthday! Ismaels friends from the school and family members were invited, and the kids from the local village joined the party as well. Together we played games, sang songs and danced and had a wonderful buffet with samosas, cutles and skewers. The kids also found an old letter from a pirate that once lived on Zanzibar who had left a great treasure behind him. They became really excited and immediately started to look for clues all over Zan View’s garden. After almost an hour of intensive search for the
