Kiwengwa is a village on the Tanzanian island of Unguja, part of Zanzibar. It is located on the northeast coast between the villages of Pongwe and Pwani Mchangani and it is about 1 hour far from Stonetown, Zanzibar’s city. It is connected by road to Kinyasini, which lies eight kilometres to the west.
Kiwengwa has a spectacularly beautiful beach with large hotels and resorts, mostly hidden behind high walls and mostly all-inclusive, with guests seldom leaving the lush grounds. By contrast and just back from the beach, Kiwengwa reveals the local life and culture and brings you closer to the Zanzibari community with its friendly and smiley people.
